Home › Vinyl Pre-Master Check
A pressing plant will find the problems in your low-end phase and sibilance eventually — at the test-pressing stage, when it costs money. This check runs the same physics on your master now, against real cutting limits, for free.
Sides up to 25 minutes. Your file is analyzed and deleted — we keep numbers, not audio.
A vinyl cutting master from a mastering house runs €60–80 per track. Knowing whether you need one costs nothing.
Five things a cutting engineer will check anyway: low-frequency phase correlation (out-of-phase bass can lift the needle), RIAA-weighted sibilance (harsh S sounds distort on the inner grooves), overall level versus cutting limits, subsonic content, and pre-echo risk. Each is scored against real pressing-plant specifications.
Vinyl is a physical medium with physical limits. Wide, out-of-phase low end that sounds huge on headphones can make a groove uncuttable; bright sibilance that a DAC reproduces cleanly burns into distortion as groove speed drops toward the label. Streaming masters are routinely too hot and too wide for the lathe.
Groove geometry. A 12-inch maxi cut at 45 RPM has more room per second of music, so it tolerates more level and more bass width than a full LP side. Pick the format you are actually pressing and the limits adjust.
The report tells you which metric failed and by how much, so you or your mastering engineer can fix exactly that — usually narrowing the low end, de-essing, or pulling the level. Our Mastering Kit also renders a vinyl-safe cutting master automatically.
No. It is analysis only — your file is measured, reported on, and deleted. Decisions at the lathe always belong to your cutting engineer; the report just means no surprises.
Up to 25 minutes, which covers a full LP side. Files up to 30 MB in WAV, MP3, FLAC, AIFF, M4A or OGG.
Elliptical EQ, groove limits, and why vinyl needs its own master.
The number that decides whether your bass can be cut at all.
The streaming side of the same question: what each platform does to your level.
